Our 8 week course is an exploration of the art of relief printmaking. You will gain an understanding of the practical aspect of relief printing using different printmaking techniques.
You will start by learning about the relationship between the plate and the printed surface, how to use the Lino tools safely, how to ink up effectively and how to use our printing press.
You will start by experimenting with mono printing on the Lino surface, then progress to a one colour Lino and finally create a 3-4 colour reduction linocut print.
You will be offered the opportunity to experiment with jigsaw linocut. If you wish, other techniques will be shared including how to use chine collee, create rainbow rolls and use stencilling. This depends on your print designs and desire to experiment.
You will learn how to edition your prints and be offered the opportunity to exhibit with Barnet Printmakers and Barnet Guild of Artists
At the end of the 8 week course you will have a portfolio of prints to take home with you.
